Nymphéas

water lilies in Giverny

I’m so fascinated by Monet, one of my favorite artists. When I visited the Musée d’Orsay, in Paris, the “Le Bassin aux Nymphéas, Harmonie Rose” (Water-Lily Pond, Symphony in Rose) captivated me. It is one of Monet’s japanese foot-bridge over the water-lily pond paintings.

To create the Nymphéas, I’ve chosen ingredients related to Monet. The base of this cocktail is absinthe. Numerous artists and writers living in France in the late 19th and early 20th century were noted absinthe drinkers. I believe that Monet was one of those artists. I’ve also chosen lavender tea. In Monet’s garden at Giverny there is some lavender blossom. Finally I’ve added apple and grape juices due to Monet’s painting “Nature Morte: Raisins et Pommes” (Still Life with Apples and Grapes).

In a cocktail shaker:
• 1 part absinthe
• 3 parts lavender tea (sugarless)
• 1 part grape juice
• 3 parts apple juice
• 1 part curaçao bleu
• Lots of ice

>> Garnish with lime and apple peels

A base deste coquetel é o absinto.
